Plumbing and Tools

Leaky faucets and clogged drain are just two common problems with plumbing. For some, calling plumbers is fine. However, the cost of this service is a problem for some. As the prices go up these days, investing on tools and knowing a few basic will be a lot more helpful.

Know the tools needed, own a few if possible. Borrowing from other people is fine; however, a lot of people do not invest on tools these days. Plumbing services are just a call away after all. When looking for tools, get the one that can be used for more than one object.

  • Wrench

    • There are adjustable wrenches that allow one to change the grip as needed. Some other types of wrenches are socket wrench, pipe wrench, and a basin wrench.

  • Pliers

    • While tongue and groove pliers are the kinds usually found in tool boxes, pump pliers are the commonly used in plumbing.

  • Pipe Vises

    • These are used in cutting, threading, and reaming of pipes. A yoke pipe is used for pipes with jaws; chain pipe is for regular pipes.

As for the basics, start with the easiest. A clogged drain may be just a simple problem. There are some cleaning materials that are for clogged drains. To avoid leaky faucets, regularly clean them with the suitable cleaning materials.

For the beginners, here are few guides in caring for the tools.

  • Keep the tools clean.

  • Constant use of hard varnish can help protect the tools.
